I like the way they do things here. It’s not French, it’s Swedish. They do the bread the old fashioned way, where you can buy it by the pound. They have whole 3- and 4-pound breads standing upside down, and you just say, oh give me that chunk. And then they also have the little pastry with cardamom, the little bun. And they also do a disformed baguette, you should try that one, and they also make a little bun with that dough, like a hamburger bun.

My wife loves bagels, so what I do is I’ll get a dozen bagels, sesame, poppy seeds, and pumpernickel, I love pumpernickel—they do a good one. Also their pumpernickel loaf is very good, crunchy on the outside. And now they have the one at Hudson Yards, so I go there with my business partner and I get the herring or a potato latke also.
