Since opening in 2022, Pizzeria Sei has quietly grown into one of the best pizzerias in Los Angeles. The restaurant, named for the six slices in each pizza, began as a no-frills storefront on a bustling stretch of Pico Boulevard, serving Tokyo-style Neapolitan pies alongside a simple menu of starters and desserts.
It later attracted considerable local attention for its $150-per-person pizza omakase pop-ups, where chef and co-owner William Joo debuted experimental dough styles and combined premium ingredients with seasonal produce. Previous menus included homages to Tokyo pizzerias, such as a raw tuna pizza inspired by Savoy Tomato & Cheese. Another pizza, named after Joo’s young daughter, combined zucchini blossoms and other vegetables in a delightful, rainbow-colored creation that distilled the best of the farmers market into a single slice.
In 2026, Pizzeria Sei expanded into a larger, full-service location in nearby Palms, where Joo broadened his repertoire to include a fried-and-baked montanara and a thin, crispy Roman-style scrocchiarella.
The regular menu includes a cornflake-crusted corn croquette and house-made gelato served in delicate parfaits inspired by Italian desserts such as tiramisu and cassata. Together, these dishes reflect culinary ambitions that extend beyond the Tokyo-style pizza that first attracted attention from international guides and rankings.
Since 2024, 50 Top Pizza has ranked Pizzeria Sei among the best pizzerias in the country and the world. In 2026, the organization placed it at No. 2 in the United States. The original Pico-Robertson restaurant, now called Sei Pizza Bar, is included in the Michelin Guide and has received recognition from the Los Angeles Times and The New York Times.
