Sparkling Conversations Around the Table: Antonia Klugmann & Niki Nakayama - On Ambition and Restraint

Sparkling Conversations around the table is S.Pellegrino's new vodcast.

Filmed during the S.Pellegrino Young Chef Academy Competition 2025 Grand Finale, the four episodes bring together the eight members of the competition jury - Christophe Bacquié, Jeremy Chan, Antonia Klugmann, Niki Nakayama, Elena Reygadas, Julien Royer, Mitsuharu Tsumura - along with Nelson Freitas, winner of the previous edition, in a series of conversations hosted by Nick Grimshaw, BBC presenter and co-host of the podcast Dish. 

In each episode, two of the eight chefs answer questions on the seven deadly sins. What follows goes well beyond gastronomy, revealing unexpected sides of these top chefs. In this episode, Nick Grimshaw welcomes Antonia Klugmann, chef and owner of the Michelin-starred L'Argine a Vencò in Italy, and Niki Nakayama, chef of the Michelin-starred n/naka in Los Angeles. Two women with very different paths and one thing in common: a rare willingness to be honest. Antonia admits she never cooks at home, her fridge feels too small, the domestic kitchen like a trap. Niki confesses to stopping at fast food joints after closing, hoping none of her team finds out. Between laughs and honest answers, the conversation reveal what it means to be a chef.
