This week FDL took a very special visit to Lombardy region of Italy to meet the producers of one of the world's most famous sparkling wines Bellavista.
While there we filmed a fascinating video into just what goes into making this special and historical drink. There was a look at the vineyard which dates back to the 15th century. FDL were also lucky enough to be invited to the Bellavista headquarters seated on Monte Orfano with one of the most spectacular views in the world.
FDL also met with the daughter of the founder of the Bellavista label, Francesca Moretti. Moretti explained her father’s vision and his desire to invest in the unique region over 35 years ago. There was also some gourmet pairing tips for what works well with Bellavista wine, a piece on the history of this famous label and a look at the annual wine blogging conference.
A Dutch tasting tour
From Italy FDL was also in Amsterdam this week bringing one of our many tasting tours of the city. From Gouda cheese to smoked herring FDL sampled some of the best producers and visited some of the best markets in the dutch capital to bring you some of the best places to visit next while there.
So if you want to know where you can sample the best french fry with dutch mayonnaise or where to buy traditional smoked herring this is a must read for you.
More than a festival
In keep with this week's globe trotting ways FDL also brought a first hand account of the Mistura food festival all the way from Peru in South America. FDL attended the festival started by local peruvian hero, Gaston Acurio.
There was a look at the many offerings available at the festival, the local traditions and flavours and how the festival has a much deeper, social significance to the thousands of farmers who sell their produce and sell their products throughout Peru.
There was also a look at traditional Peruvian method of cooking a traditional peruvian dish under soil, a recipe for local dish containing guinea pig and a sneak peak at a trailer for a new film produced all about the festival.
