Even though we live in a digital era the vast majority of cookbooks are still hardcover. A project on Kickstarter aims to change that by publishing Unconventional, a digital cookbook sold exclusively online without the use of special apps. That means you'll be able to access the book by simply logging onto the company website from your computer or any mobile device.
The cookbook is a project from Alta Editions and features recipes from rising star New York chefs Jesse Schenker (Recette, The Gander) and Jehangir Mehta (Graffiti, Mehtaphor), and Francisco Migoya, head chef at Modernist Cuisine. Renown food photographer Evan Sung will shoot all of the finished dishes, step-by-step photos and short instructional videos.

“The change to digital is coming, however, and its our belief that combining the quality of traditional cookbooks (i.e. professionally-tested and edited recipes, top notch photography and quality writing) with the convenience, interactivity and the social capabilities of the web makes for beautiful, enjoyable and, most of all, useful cookbooks,” project leader Chris McBride explains on Kickstarter.
Currently, the project has secured $11, 564 in funding but falls short of its $18,000 goal. Swing by Kickstarter to learn more and contribute to the cause.
