For years, the world's supply of fish has been endangered. As concern over sustainable fishing practices have increased, McDonald's has jumped on the eco-friendly bandwagon. The company will now offer certified sustainable wild-caught Alaskan pollock.
The fish is already used in the Fillet-O-Fish sandwichand will be featured in the upcoming Fish McBites. McDonald's is the first national restaurant chain to obtain the Marine Stewardship Council's blue ecolabel (pictured above).
So far, the campaign has gained the company a few fans but a look at its Facebook page revealed mixed reviews. As one of the largest food retailiers in the world, it's nice to see the company take some responsibity for the environment.
