The names of the 20 emerging designers selected by Vogue Italia to pair up with the S.Pellegrino Young Chef 2015 finalists have finally been announced.
Each designer will reinterpret the work of their team-mate through a fashion creation inspired by the chef’s dish, in an unprecedented fusion of fine food and style.
Here is the interview with Africa - Middle East region finalists: chef Angelo Scirocco and fashion designer Ashi Studio.

|The knowledge of every background, history and foundation is what inspires me in my creations, so that when I've created something it makes sense. That's the real beauty in it all...that it makes sense.||I get my inspiration from everything that is tangible and visual that I see in my daily life such as architecture , visual images and movies.

|Colour is the most powerful visual you could possibly get. It displays the chef's emotion in an artistic fashion. Texture needs to be paired with emotion. If a dish is light, the colours should be soft, with soft textures, to represent a peaceful emotion. If a dish is dark, with vibrant red and dramatic textures, this could represent excitement or despair.||Textures influence my inspiration in creating a silhouette.

|My cooking has always been described as avant garde. In chef school I always did things a little different. They never worked, but I still managed to end up ahead, even though I never was really pleased with the product. Others seemed to be intrigued more than myself. Once I started to work at The Test Kitchen, we started bending boundaries - it was only then I became aware that that's the kind of chef I'll become someday.
||My designs and creations are considered to be conceptual. I always follow a concept and apply it to every collection I create. The new ready to wear was inspired from the minimalism of the 90's.|
|Is there any influence of your country's traditions, culture or materials in your creative work?||Is there any influence of your country's traditions, culture or materials in your creative work?|
|I would have to say the wild plants, which grow everywhere all over our country, intrigue me. Wild mushrooms and sea life is incredible here. There are many unexplored flavours, which challenges me to learn and create a distinct signature in cooking.
||The mystery of the veiled woman is behind the concept of my creations that are mysterious. There is always a hidden message behind any collection I create.|

|If your cuisine was something to wear, what would it be?||If your creations were a dish, what would it be?|
|It would have to be really simple with a clear message and an edgy touch. The whole idea of it would have to be out there.
||Crispy sea weed.
|What ingredient would you never eat, and why?||What item of fashion would you never wear, and why?|
|Insects. There’s a lot of hype about eating insects. I would probably try Alex Atala's ant and pineapple dish, but that's as far as it goes. I think there's a million different species of wildlife that humans can consume, eating insects doesn't do any justice to the ecosystem.||Poncho because it is not chic.|
