10/10/10
This week ended with a tribute to the top ten restaurants from the 2011 World's 50 Best Restaurant Awards. With only ten days to go until the 2012 awards we marked the occasion by bringing ten special pictures of ten very special dishes, from ten very special chefs.
The 10/10/10 was also a homage to this year's event which will be the award's tenth anniversary. The picture gallery covers Noma to Per Se and shows just how beautiful and well conceived the dishes can be from some of the world's best chefs.
This is a taste of just some of the chefs and this top ten is set to change on the 30th April when the 2012 list is announced. We'll be there and be streaming all the action live on the night - You can reserve your seat in the front row on our Facebook Page.
The Kitchen Toolbox
Being based in Milan we look forward to Design Week so when it arrived we headed straight there to see what we could find. The event covers a whole range of design topics but we sifted through it all to bring you a great kitchen toolbox for 2012.
From cutlery made of nylon to a psychedelic fridge - we presented our best finds in an inspirational picture gallery - great if you plan on redesigning your kitchen this year. We've also had mini-reports all week from the festival looking at all the wonderful food exhibitions and tastes on offer during the world famous design week.
The Chocolate Brothers
We love passionate producers at FDL and this week we met a very unique duo from Williamsburg, America. The Mast brothers, Rick and Michael, have a very serious approach to making chocolate and a very serious approach to the entire process of production.
They produce in a small factory, hand wrap their chocolate and spend the time to travel the world and meet their suppliers. We sat down with Michael and spoke with him about their chocolate making process - we also learnt more about their backgrounds and passion to change the way the world looks at chocolate.
In the Blog
We had some knitted meats, some amazing vegetable carvings and the story of a baker suing her chef because of missing recipes.
