Salt Bae to Open Restaurants in London and New York

Love him or hate him, the Turkish restaurateur/internet meme known as #SaltBae is certainly making the most of his new found fame.

Nusret Gökçe, as he's otherwise known, is the co-owner of a chain of steakhouses in Turkey and Dubai, and became famous after videos of him cutting and salting meat went viral. Talking to the Hürriyet Daily News, Gökçe says he has plans to open in London and New York and wants to become the “world’s greatest butcher.” He is not able to speak any foreign languages, rather, he says he wants to “communicate with people through meat.”

We suspect there are quite a few people who’d like to be part of that conversation. We’ve no idea if these new outposts of his Nusr-et chain are going to be any good, but if you’re in either of those two cities in the coming months, look out for long lines of excitable diners – chances are, Salt Bae’s in town.
