Nebraskan resident Ander Christensen has made an official plea to Lincoln City Council to lead the US in renaming boneless chicken wings. The reason? They are not chicken wings at all, but chicken tenders.
Dressed for business, complete with what looks like a cheeseburger tie, Christensen stands before the council calling upon them to change the misleading name of this crunchy deep-fried delicacy once and for all.
Quietening sniggers from the assembled few, he makes his plea: "I propose that we as a city remove the name boneless wings from our menus and from our hearts."
As Christensen eloquently puts it: "Boneless chicken wings are just chicken tenders which are already boneless." As he rightly points out, people don't have to ask for a boneless club sandwich, "it's just expected."
He implores the council to stop "living a lie" and to stop confusing future generations that should grow up knowing that "the wing of a chicken is from a chicken and it's delicious."
What names does he propose instead? "Buffalo-style chicken tenders, wet tenders, saucy nugs or trash."
