Elite Traveler, the luxury lifestyle magazine, has revealed its annual list of the 100 best restaurants in the world, as voted for by its readers, revealing a brand new number one and four new entries.
Restaurant de l’Hôtel de Ville in Lausanne, Switzerland has climbed into pole position, from last year's no.9 spot, with three Michelin starred chef Franck Giovannini at the helm who took over in 2016 after the demise of long term friend and colleague Benoît Violier in 2016.Â
There are four new entries this year including Clare Smyth's British fine dining restaurant, Core in London, in at number 50, joined by Vladimir Mukhin’s White Rabbit (84), Jan Hartwig’s Atelier (94) and Virgilio MartÃnez’s Central (99).
Grant Achatz's Alinea in Chicago drops down to second place, while Daniel Humm and Will Guidara come in third with Eleven Madison Park in New York.
NYC was the top performing city, closely followed by Paris, while San Francisco and London, are joint third and fourth place, both with five restaurants featuring.
The annual poll, now in its eighth year, has been decided by the private jet lifestyle magazine’s ultra-high-net-worth readers, who regularly dine at the world’s finest restaurants.Â
French chef Guy Savoy picks up This year’s Lifetime Achievement Award, while Anne Sophie-Pic, becomes the first female to receive the coveted Chef of the Year title and Vladimir Muhkin has been named the Rising Star of the Year at White Rabbit in Moscow, Russia.
