Iñaki Aizpitarte - Le Chateaubriand - Paris
Chef Iñaki Aizpitarte from the world famous Le Chateaubriand in Paris has been named among one of six chefs to recieve a Chevalier of the Order of Arts and Letters. The Chevalier honor is usually awarded to the older and more traditional chefs who approach food with a traditional french eye but the six chefs recently given the distinction are all from the new school of French cooking. This is more than an honor and is a great indication in the shifting landscape of food in France.
In 2011 Aizpitarte's Le Chateaubriand restaurant placed 9 on The World's 50 Best Restaurants list. The Argentinean chef, Mauro Collegreco, who runs the Mirazur restaurant in France and was also awarded the merit.
The Roca Brothers - El Celler De Can Roca - Girona
The Spanish Roca brothers run the 2nd best restaurant in the world with their El Celler De Can Roca venue in Girona spain. There food is often described as sensory releasing child hood memories for many of the guests lucky enough to dine with them.
The youngest brother Jordi, a trained pastry chef, will today opens his first ice cream shop in the same area of the brothers restaurant. Called ROCAMBOLESC the shop will serve 6 flavors, 3 exclusive toppings and even offer people the chance to take a 400 ml pot of that distinctive Roca flavor home. Via Maria Canabal
Seiji Yamamoto - Nihonryori RyuGin - Tokyo
Chef Seiji Yamamoto, will be cooking a dish as part of the Noosa Food and Wine Festival. The festival starts on the 17th to the 20th May and will involve a number of events. The one to catch our eye is the $750-a-head de-gustation night, which involves a number of the world's best chefs.
We already brought you the news that the Italian chef, Davide Scabin, will be cooking one of the courses and Seiji Yamamoto has also been confirmed as one of the chefs. Seji's Nihonryori RyuGin restaurant in Tokyo was the highest climber on The World's 50 Best Restaurants list in 2011 coming in at 20.
