The Expo Milano 2015 organisation revealed their new ‘Food is Life’ ad campaign this week as plans continue to roll out as to what we can expect when the Expo opens in May 2015. Here’s a quick round up of news from Expo Milano 2015.
The Expo committee announced this week that they have made an alliance with Bocconi University in Milan to bring together 200 young people to discuss issues surrounding food waste and look at creative ways of stopping the problem.
The 200 young people will take part meetings from June 24 to July 1 building on their own ideas to solve food waste - the final projects and ideas will be presented at the Italian Pavilion during the Expo.
As part of the lead up to the Expo the organisation are organising ‘social relays’ in which organisations hand over their Facebook and Twitter accounts to discuss a number of different issues. This week has seen CESVI - a global solidarity organisation that works with 24 countries all over the world take the the baton.
Cesvi have been covering a number of global food issues and with three days left, they’re certainly worth a read. On Friday 7th they will post on the topic of ‘Hidden Hunger’. On Saturday 8th they will discuss the volatility of food prices and Sunday 9th will finish with a discussion around ‘the right to food’.
These relays will continue right up until December with organisations like Fairtrade, ActionAid and Save the Children all taking the social platform to spread their messages surrounding the food theme of Expo Milano 2015.
The city of Milan is already coming to life with Expo expectations and events linked to the Expo have slowly started to appear across the city.
Opening November 9th at the Expo Gate stand Spazio Leonardo, just in front of the Sgorzesco castle in the centre of Milan, Phood is an exhibition that recounts food through wonderful photography.
On November 11th, also at Spazio Leonardo, guests will be invited to witness a call for case studies from WAME (World Acees to Modern Energy) - a group that works to promote the huge number of people who do not have access to electricity. They will present alongside speakers about a number of the goring problems linked with a lack of access to fuel around the world and how the UN’s ‘electricity for all by 2030’ goal is already flawed.
On the same site from November 17th - 21st the organisation will also host a series of public talks surrounding projects and opinions regarding the Expo.
S.Pellegrino will be Official Water partner of the Italy's Expo Milano 2015 and Padiglione Italia.
