Sicilian Food as Pantone is the name of a funny food-inspired project by Georgia Calderone and Alessio Varvarà, a young Italian photographer and designer duo from Palermo. The series features some iconic Sicilian recipes turned into Pantone palettes: caponata recipe, Sicilian cannolo, parmigiana recipe and other traditional Italian dishes have been organized on a colour base as shown in the gallery at the top.
"Pantone Inc. is an American company focused on graphic technologies, color cataloguing and identification," the authors write on their site. "Once the international graphic standard, it's nowadays also used to deal with colors in other fields: chemistry, for example. In this project Sicilian food is the color itself".
Of course it's not the first project that mixes food and Pantone colours - have a look at the smoothies by Hedvig A Kushner, the Pantone food pairings or the beer packaging - but for sure it's one of the most tempting, especially if you're hungry. Enjoy the gallery!
