Szechuan Sauce
Szechuan sauce is a bold, spicy Chinese condiment with a tangy sweetness and savoury heat. This smokey sauce can be used as a dipping sauce, steak sauce, marinade, or to flavour meat.

Low-sodium soy sauce
1 1⁄2 tbsp
Honey or maple syrup or brown sugar
2 tbsp
Cornstarch
2 tsp (optional)
Asian chilli-garlic sauce
1 tbsp
Rice wine vinegar
1 tsp
Chinese cooking wine (Shaoxing) or mirin
1 tsp
Ginger
1 ½ tbsp (fresh, finely minced)
Garlic cloves
2 finely minced
Red Pepper
1⁄2 tsp dry crushed
Step 01
Place all ingredients in a saucepan over medium heat and warm until nearly boiling.
Step 02
Whisk and simmer until well combined.
Step 03
After removing from heat, let it cool and serve as a dipping sauce or stir fry sauce as soon as possible.
