Luca Osteria is chef Giorgio Rapicavoli’s Italian restaurant on Giralda Plaza in Coral Gables. Opened in February 2021 and named after his son, the restaurant serves housemade pasta, antipasti, and meat and seafood dishes, alongside an international wine list and Italian-inspired cocktails.
A black-and-white color scheme runs through the dining room, accented by Moroccan tilework and mirrors. Seating includes a custom L-shaped bar and outdoor tables on pedestrian-only Giralda Plaza.
Pasta anchors the menu. The pasta al limone combines mafaldine with whole lemon and 24-month-aged Parmigiano-Reggiano, while the short rib Bolognese pairs pappardelle with mortadella butter, nutmeg, and aged Parmigiano. Other preparations include semolina bucatini cacio e pepe, gemelli with Florida basil and pistachio pesto, and rock shrimp fra diavolo. Gluten-free pasta is available for an additional charge.
Among the starters, the patate fritte brings together truffled potatoes, Parmigiano fonduta, and egg yolk. The selection also includes local stracciatella with Sullivan Street Bakery bread, grilled wild mushrooms with parsley bagna cauda, and plant-based tomato ’nduja served with grilled bread. Raw preparations include yellowfin tuna caprese with preserved tomato, basil, aged balsamic, and fior di latte.
Larger dishes range from sea bass with limoncello-miso to filet mignon with patate fritte and black truffle demi-glace. The chicken al mattone comes with a cacio e pepe Caesar salad and salsa verde, with half and whole birds available.
The wine list covers Italian regions including Piedmont, Tuscany, Veneto, and Sicily, alongside selections from France, the United States, and Argentina. Barolo, Barbaresco, and Brunello di Montalcino feature among the Italian reds, with a separate selection of wines by the glass.
Cocktails include the Portofino, made with vodka, green olive vermouth, and olive oil. A selection of spritzes and Negroni variations rounds out the drinks menu, including the Negroni Luca with gin, Contratto, bianco vermouth, and orange.
