When one buys an avocado at the supermarket, it is usually hard as a rock. Letting it ripen on the countertop takes days and by then you might have forgotten about it. The end result? A spoiled avocado.
So how can you speed up the ripening process without the risk throwing the avocado in the trash? Here's a tip that will ripenavocados in 10 minutes flat. You may not believe it but it works.
TIP FOR RIPENING AVOCADO IN NO TIME
To ripen an avocado in minutes, preheat your oven to 100 ° C (212F), pack the avocado in aluminum foil and bake 10 minutes.
If the avocado is really hard, you can leave it in the oven for one or two more minutes. However, be sure to check its hardness regularly as not to spoil the product.
Take the avocado from oven and let rest for 30 minutes inside the aluminum foil. Then unwrap and prepare your recipe!
WHY DOES THIS TIP WORK?
The avocado ripens through the release of ethylene gas. When placed in a warm environment and wrapped with aluminum foil, this gas flows out faster while remaining contained in the foil. Therefore, the avocado softens faster.
