Food for future

On Monday FDL set out to discover what the food of the future future will look, feel and taste like. Four experts were gathered and asked to give their predictions on what they thought 2050 had in store for food and there was some interesting debate.

Sustainable food? one magic pill that fills the hole of three meals? or did they predict food will stay exactly the same? You can read it all again in 'Food For Future'

Chef Files

Earth, wind, water and fire, the four elements of the world but not necessarily of the kitchen. This week FDL met with the culinary master who won 'best restaurant in Asia' at the this year's S.Pellegrino World's 50 Best restaurant awards.

A man who uses soil and charcoal as ingredients, and takes motivations from the elements an exclusive video interview to Yoshihiro Narisawa, in wich he shares his inspiration, passion and philosophy of cooking.

Mums Know Best...

As the proverb goes "Mum's know best", but we all know that's not always the case. As much as they love us, they sometimes get it wrong, although they'd never admit it. So with a curious eye and a taste for food - FDL took a closer look at that maternal relationship between mother and child.

This was in Homage to Mothers Day and if you're reading this now and haven't already sent flowers, it's too late, Mum's already pretty upset you forget. But before you pick up the phone to apologise, take a look at this rather funny food quotes  article and you might not feel too bad for forgetting after all.

Coming up

Monday evening will see the winners of James Beard Foundation Awards announced. Highlighting the best in American cuisine from chefs, restaurant designers and food journalists alike, FDL will be taking a closer look at the awards and they'll also be a special piece about James from a famous New York food critic who knew him personally.  All that and more on next week's menu.
