The Vienna Vegetable Orchestra

It’s a rare sight, but one that you’ll never forget. An 11-piece orchestra made up entirely of fresh produce, which changes according to seasonal availability. A celery guitar, a carrot flute, a bass drum made from a melon. These musicians don’t play in order to make some kind of “statement”, they play for the pure musical fun of it. Check out the photo gallery of the Vienna Vegetable Orchestra and if you’re curious, here’s a link with a list of their upcoming gigs.

Mumbai’s Dabbawalla

Admired for their precision and organisation by everyone from Prince Charles to Silicon Valley Executives, the Dabbawallas of Mumbai have the challenging job of delivering  around 300,000 homemade lunches all around India’s capital city in time for workers’ lunch break. A ritual that has remained largely unchanged since its beginnings in 1890. For a taste of what lunchtime looks like in Mumbai, take a look at the FDL photo gallery.

A last little bite...

A rare chance to see the world’s best chefs flat on their backs. Turin-based photographer Alessandra Tinozzi’s special “On the Pillow” portrait series.
