This week at Fine Dining Lovers we wanted to recap all of the culinary celebrations we were fortunate enough to attend in 2014.

Our year included visit to Singapore for the announcement of Asia's 50 Best Restaurants list, a stop in London for the World's 50 Best Restaurants awards in London and a fascinating trip to Lima for Latin America's 50 Best Restaurants awards.

Not to mention food congresses like Mesamerica and Identita Golose. Here's a look at other great celebrations and food trends we covered in 2014.

After a full-filled look at the events of last year we kicked off 2015 by taking a look ahead at eight culinary destinations we expect will rise in popularity. Can you guess what they are?

Here are some hints: there's a region that serves spiced pigeon pie, another is known for a rice dish known as 'Moors and Christians' while vegetarian 'thalis' are popular in this other part of the world. Join us in discovering amazing culinary destinations from Havana, Cuba to Wellington, New Zealand and other delicious places in between.

We ended the week by answering an interesting question through the ages: what did Cleopatra eat? The most famous Queen of Egypt was rumored to be a foodie who hosted extravagant banquets.

Our research revealed not only the fact that Cleopatra had an appetite for only the best food but that the Egyptians were the precursors of the Mediterranean diet. They used extra-virgin olive oil, light cheeses, vegetables, legumes, grains, aromatic herbs, and enjoyed meals based around meat and fish.

Read our in-depth feature to find out all about Cleopatra's extraordinary palate.
