Number One for Narisawa
This week on Fine Dining Lovers we joined the rest of the culinary world and turned our gaze to Asia for the inaugural announcement of Asia's 50 Best Restaurants list, sponsored by S.Pellegrino and Acqua Panna.
It was the Japanese chef Yoshira Narisawa who took top spot on the list and FDL relaunched our exclusive video with the chef in which he discusses the unique approach to food, an approach that saw him picked as the best restaurant in Asia.
FDL brought you the social story from the event, a round up of the top ten winners on the list and all those chefs and restaurants to receive special awards and a look at a new feature from Asia's 50 Best Restaurants in which they asked some of the chefs from the list to offer up their tips and hidden gems for places to eat across Asia.
FDL travelled to India to take part in an Indian wedding and try to understand the important role that spices and other foods play a key role in a number of traditions and rituals.
Rice, tumeric, sugar, flour and milk were all examined as we discovered the fasinating symbolism that foods carry in India.
We were in the Northwest region of Punjab where we actually took part in an Indian wedding where purity, wealth and romance are all expressed through food.
A great look at the cultural significance that food carries away from the Western world.
Finishing the week strong FDL headed to Slovenia to take a closer look at some of the local eating establishments called gostilnas or country inns.
Places for unrefined yet hearty food made with love. The piece was an interesting focus on an often overlooked part of the world and offered up some great tips for anyone planning a culinary adventure in Slovenia.
Soups, meats, sauces - lots of sauces - and of course we couldn't visit Slovenia with having a taste of some of their desserts.

We brought you the news that Rene Redzepi wished luck to the two chefs from Noma who were leaving to open their own restaurant and a video of a Michelin kitchen crew in Chicago performing The Harlem Shake.
