Chef Thomas Keller
This week FDL brought you a great video interview with chef Thomas Keller. He is the owner of two three michelin starred restaurants in America, The French Laundry and Per Se.
During his career, which stared as a dishwasher in his mum's restaurant, chef Keller has worked with some of the world's biggest chefs and received awards throughout the food world.
We sat down with chef Keller to discuss how American cuisine has developed over the 35-years he has worked in the industry and how preparing himself to let go and step away from the stove has been a very difficult decision for him to make.
Ten Years of Food Design
Food design and the amazing work that food designers do around the world amazes us at FDL HQ almost daily and this week we met one of the longest standing food design collectives.
Arabeschi Di Latte was formed by a group of architects in Florence back in 2001 and has been helping create wonderful sets, installations and designs with a focus on food.
FDL sat down with the collective to find out a little more about their work. There was also a great collection of pictures showing some of the projects the collective have worked on over the past ten years.
An Edible Opera
The Roca brothers are know for their experimental style - you don't usually get three Michelin stars and the award of being the second best restaurant in the world by following tradition.
This week FDL travelled to Spain to meet the brothers at their famous El Celler De Can Roca venue in Girona. While there we spoke to them about their latest idea to build an underground culinary opera.
They explained their plans on where they expect to build the venue, how it will look and how important it now is for them to combine art, music, design and architecture in the kitchen.
