Noosa International Food and Wine Festival on its Tenth Year

Fresh from the excitement of The World’s 50 Best Restaurant awards sponsored by S.Pellegrino and Acqua Panna, nine of the top 100 chefs in the world will pack their board-shorts for the beachside Noosa International Food and Wine Festival sponsored by Acqua Panna (May 16 – 19) in Queensland, Australia.

The hot ticket, in fact, is the Gala Opening Night on May 16th, as the festival kicks off its tenth anniversary. Titled Edible Music the event, organized by Sanpellegrino, will showcase some of Australia’s most talented musicians, alongside ten of the world’s leading chefs. Chefs from World’s 50 Best will add flavour and vigour as they chop, blend and whisk in-time to some orchestral favourites: Mark Best, André Chiang, Mauro Colagreco, Carlo Cracco, Peter Gilmore, David Kinch, Yoshihiro Narisawa, Ben Shewry, David Thompson and Tetsuya Wakuda.

This Gala Event will introduce S.Pellegrino and Acqua Panna Special Edition bottles celebrating the style, spectacle and theatre of Italian Opera and the most famous exponent of the art - Luciano Pavarotti.

The event is being heralded as a world first – combining food, wine and lifestyle in spectacular fashion. The festival stretches over four days with a number of world-class events that you might expect in culinary hotspots such as New York or London. The Qantas Premier International Degustation dinners on May 17 and 18, feature a mix of international chefs with some of Australia’s best. Eight chefs will prepare an eight course degustation, with wines presented by Huon Hooke, an award winning Australian wine writer, expert and judge.

Everyone’s a critic at the Food Critics Cooking Competition on May 18. Ten food critics from a range of Australian publications will put their cooking-skills on the line in front of chefs, restaurateurs and festival guests. Competing for the People’s Choice Award – decided by popular applause – competition will be rife. Master the tricks-of-the-trade at the Celebrity Chef Cooking Demonstrations on May 19. Guests will have a rare opportunity to watch Yoshihiro Narisawa, Andrew Chiang and David Thompson in action. A legion of Australia’s best chefs will also take to the stage include Peter Gilmore, Colin Fassnidge (Four in Hand and 4 Fourteen), Dan Hong (Ms G’s and Mr Wong) and Giovanni Pilu (Pilu at Freshwater).
