The latest project by French photographer Franck Bohbot features New York City storefronts at night: have a look at the restaurant, deli and pubs he captured.

Light On is the title of the latest project by Brooklyn-based French photographer Franck Bohbot. The series captures New York and its storefront at night: "A sentimental study of storefronts - as stated on the artist's site - Franck Bohbot’s Light On series presents a nocturnal exploration of the city that never sleeps. Shot from august 2013 through March 2015, the project presents facades that boast still-standing Googie marquees of yesteryear to contemporary exteriors."

Together with theatres, hotels and city landmarks, the series features a lot of delis, restaurants, corner stores and many other food-related venues (you can have a look at in the gallery at the top of the page) that offer a nostalgic glimpse into the timelessness of Manhattan’s buzzing luminescence. This aesthetic, along with the predominant absence of people, results in a melancholic atmosphere reminiscent of Edward Hopper paintings and evocative of staged theatrical sets.

Born in the southernmost suburbs of Paris, France, Franck Bohbot moved to New York in 2013, and is currently based out of Brooklyn. He is a documentarian with an eye for the theatrical who found his way to photography by way of cinema.
