Gourmet Abu Dhabi 2012
Abu Dhabi, 8-23 February
The Gourmet Abu Dhabi food festival celebrates all aspects of Middle Eastern cuisine with chefs and serious foodies from all over the world attending. Chef masterclasses, chateau dinners and themed events make it a festival that's full of attractions over its 16 days. Organised and presented by the Abu Dhabi tourism board, the festival highlights the best businesses in the local food and beverage industry by awarding the much coveted Gourmet Star to those who stand out. With gourmet golf experiences and culinary dinners presenting some of the finest food in the region, all of it taking place at some of the best venues across Abu Dhabi, this is certainly a food festival with style.

Paris Cookbook Fair 2012
Paris, 7 – 11 March 2012
If you’re looking for new recipes to include in your personal library, then you shouldn’t miss the 2012 Paris Cookbook Fair 2012, the annual event that gathers together publishers, chefs and sommeliers from around the world. Along with book presentations, there will be round table discussions and tastings: this is an un-missable event for anyone who loves food on paper as well as on plates.

Milan Design Week 2012
Milan, 17 - 22 April 2012
Like every year, Milan becomes the world’s capital of design for a week in the spring. This is the 51st edition of the International Furniture Fair, dedicated to industry professionals and curious aficionados, which happens alongside the FuoriSalone, which sees a week of temporary shops, exhibitions and not-to-be missed events for those who are hungry for new trends – foodie or otherwise.

Singapore World Gourmet Summit 
Singapore, 23 April - 3 May 
For two weeks, Singapore hosts some the world’s leading chefs and wine-makers, with master classes and a variety of unforgettable culinary events. Now in its 16th edition, this prestigious culinary event is a celebration of flavours, food, wine and all the ingredients that make a dining experience extraordinary and memorable. Events in 2012 will include: chef masterclasses, themed gala dinners, wine tasting sessions, cocktail mixing classes and even workshops on topics like: Poultry and egg culinary and food photography. The festival is packed with events and caters for all tastes and levels.

The World’s 50 Best Restaurants
London, 30 April 2012
The 10th edition of the awards ceremony that celebrates the world’s best restaurants. London’s Guildhall hosts the event, which is sure to be full of surprises for its tenth birthday. Will two-time first-place winner René Redzepi of Norma manage to obtain the same record as chef Ferran Adrià did by winning first place for elBulli for four times? The awards ceremony is set for April, but take a look at the winners of 2011 and the evening that consecrated the “Vikings” of Noma.

James Beard Foundation Award 2012
New York, 4th and 7th May 2012
This is one of the most prestigious and sought-after prizes in the food world, in honour of one of America’s cornerstones of the culinary arts, James Beard. Each year, an award is given out to the world’s best chef, restaurateur, food writer and journalist. 2012, however, will see four new categories: Outstanding Bar Program, Food Coverage in a General Interest Publication, Food Coverage in a Food-Focused Publication and Visual Storytelling. While you wait for the winners to be named in New York, take a look at a little-known side of James Beard, told exclusively for Fine Dining Lovers by the journalist and food writer Gael Greene.

Taste of… Festivals
Beginning with Dubai and Sydney, taking place respectively from the 8th -10th and 8th – 11th of March, the series then continues on to Milan from May 17th – 20th before stopping in Amsterdam from May 31st – June 3rd and then in London from 21st – 24th June. Spring and Summer, for foodies, is all about the Taste Festivals – a culinary format that travels around the world, proposing dishes prepared by the best local chefs, together with wine and water tastings, cooking lessons, demonstrations and presentations from regional producers. London Olympic Games 2012 – Sport Your Food
London, 27 July– 12 August 2012
The world is already counting down for the next edition of the Olympic Games, which will begin on the 27th of July, 2012 in London. For the occasion, the art world will join forces with the culinary world for the Sport Your Food manifestation: an exhibition of contemporary art conceived by the IMA International Festival, that will host five chefs and five artists who will work in tandem on five Olympic disciplines.

Chef Massimo Bottura will work with the artist Gregg LeFevre, the chef Cristina Bowerman with the artist Fulvio di Piazza, the chef Lorenzo Cogo together with Silvio Giordano, chef Nuno Mendes together with the artist Gayle Chong Kwan, and Hooni Kim pairs with Shigeru Oyatani. After Milano and New York, where the exhibition will arrive in May and June respectively, the world tour of Sport Your Food will conclude in London during the month of July, just in time for the Opening Ceremony of the Summer Games.
