The Mediterranean Countries Jury for SPYC 2016 is Revealed

Forming the jury for S.Pellegrino Young Chef 2016 competition for the Mediterranean Countries are chefs Meir Adoni (Israel), Mentor Aydin Demir (Turkey) and Olivier Campanha (Greece) hailing from three separate countries across the region.

The trio of top chefs will choose a finalist from the regional competition in the quest to find the talented young chef to be crowned S.Pellegrino Young Chef 2016 at the Grand Final in Milan, October 2016.

Chef Olivier Campanha from Food + Wine by Olivier Campanha fell in love with cooking at a young age, first in his mother’s kitchen and then in the different restaurants that he worked. He believes that cooking is to take a risk and that you should not be afraid to have the same fish/meat on the menu and look at is with different eyes and apply new techniques. Campanha will step into the role of mentor tasked with guiding and advising the regional finalist and supporting them during the live final.

Chef Meir Adoni joins the jury fresh from mentoring on TV show 'Mentor Chef', where one of his candidates went on to win the finale.  Adoni has been considered the leader of the elite cuisine in Israel for the last decade and heads up four cutting edge Israeli restaurants Catit, Mizlala, BlueSky and Lumina.  Chef Adoni also brings a wealth of international experience with him having worked in some of the world’s finest institutions including Alinea in Chicago, Arzak in San Sebastián, La Maison Lenôtre in Paris, Cello Wine Bar in New York, Le Cordon Bleu in Sydney and Noma in Copenhagen. 

Executive master chef Mentor Aydin Demir brings a vast knowledge and experience in international fine dining to the team with 29 years' experience, plus 18 years in an executive chef role. Demir is recognized as one of the top innovative executive chefs in Turkey, as well as writing and appearing on TV shows, he is particularly skilled at “Ottoman Turkish cuisine” keen to re-acquaint forgotten “Ottoman Palace” cuisine throughout the world.
