S.Pellegrino Young Chef 2016: Shintaro Awa Will Represent France
After a day of intense competition at l'Ecole Ferrandi in Paris, Shintaro Awa has won the France final of the S.Pellegrino Young Chef 2016 competition - the global talent search to find the world’s best young chef.
The Young Chef convinced the French jury of chefs, Yannick Alléno, Alexandre Gauthier and Matthieu Viannay, with his signature dish of Air Cured Mackerel with potatoes, highlighting both precision and correctness on the plate.
The sous-chef from Restaurant Epicure at Hotel Bristol in Paris will go on to represent France at the Grand Finale which will take place on the 15th October in Milan.
Deeply moved by the announcement of his name, Shintaro Awa made very few comments on his victory in the heat of the moment, but will divulge more in an exclusive interview to follow.
The next step for the Young Chef will be to cook an exclusive 'Dinner amongst the Stars' with his mentor, Yannick Alléno at the Grand Roue event, Paris on a Ferris Wheel.
Hence forth Awa will be mentored by master chef Yannick Alléno , who will guide him through the intricate process of honing his signature dish in the months ahead ready to compete against 19 other international finalists.
