South Africa's largest food and drink festival arrives in Durban from October 30th to November 1st celebrating the region's food and wine.
Cosmopolitan seaside city, Durban, is set to welcome the Good Food & Wine Show for three packed days of foodie fun and events this month. Located in the Durban Exhibition Centre the show will run from October 30th to November 1st 2015.
This year's celebrity chef line up is headed by Rick Stein. Acclaimed British chef, restaurateur, cookery book author and television presenter, Stein, has even cooked for The Queen. Starring alongside him will be popular MasterChef Australia winner Brent Owens and Giggling Gourmet's Jenny Morris.
Durban has the highest population of Indians overseas making the South African city well known for its diverse restaurant scene with a strong Asian influence. Indian cuisine will be championed throughout the event with a numer of acclaimed Indian chefs presenting, including the Prince of Spice, Reza Mahammed and curry queen Yudhika Sujanani.
Foodie visitors will be exposed to a wide range of workshops, presentations, food theatres as well as insight into up and coming food trends. A number of events are planned from baking to romantic cooking with even a Slow Food theatre providing a platform for local producers. Wine from around the Cape region will also feature in the Wine Walk with a number of varietals and estates presenting the best of their wines.
Shoppers will get their fix in the Book Store, where international titles will be available as well as chef signings. Head to the Shongweni Market to stock up on local produce and spices and authentic home madefood and pastries and Speciality Street for local artisanal producers showcasing a variety of cured meats and olives and tea amongst many more.
