We have rounded up four fish and seafood events to take part in this summer, from the historical oyster festival in the UK, to the mammoth lobster eat in promised on the east coast USA.

Celebrating its 31st year, this a festival with historic roots which the quaint coastal Kent town has celebrated fish since Norman times.
Today, the Whitstable Oyster Festival still symbolically recreates the “Landing of Oysters”, where sea scouts offer oysters to the Lord Mayor who blesses them and hands them round to inns and restaurants as part of the Oyster Parade.
Children can enjoy kiting and crabbing, while adults might want to take on the Oyster Challenge: a race to eat six oysters and drink half a pint of local beer.

A 5 day festival attracting lobster lovers from worldwide, 20,000 tons of lobster are promised along with plenty of entertainment and festivities. Head to the Main Eating Tent for your fresh hot Maine lobster and star of the show. Lobster rolls, lobster ceasar salad and lobster ceasar salad are also promised on the menu - get there early to make sure you don't miss out.
Amaetur chefs will compete for a cash prize in the poplular cooking competition in search of the ultimate recipe showcasing creativity and retaining the splendour of the chosen seafood.

If Maine seems a step too far, keep it local with this relative newcomer to the seafood festival scene. Entering its fourth year this is a one day event celebrating all things seafood.
Try your hand in The Battle of the Shuckers, the oyster shucking competition for a $500 cash prize or pick up some new cooking tips from some of Boston's finest seafood chefs who will be conducting cooking demonstrations throughout the day.

Try some local specialities and Icelandic recipes in this local annual one day festival held at the harbour in Dalvik in northern Iceland. Fish producers and locals also invite visitors to a free seafood buffet during the day. Enjoy a unique experience along with street entertainment and live performances.
