The Taste of Tasmania returns to Hobart on the picturesque island for the best New Year’s Eve Party in the southern hemisphere! Celebrate the end of year over the food-centric summer nights featuring the island’s sensational food and beverages, captivating entertainment and the best view of the midnight fireworks you’ll find on the waterfront from 28 December 2016 – 3 January 2017.
Set against the backdrop of the majestic River Derwent, Hobart’s historic wharves and Salamanca Place this annual celebration puts Tasmanian produce and local talent firmly on the Australian map with a line-up to match.
Celebrity host Maeve O’Meara will introduce local chefs leading free cooking events in the show kitchen with the New Year’s Eve party featuring Kate Ceberano and Nicky Bomba’s Bustamento. Meanwhile, wine critic and writer Huon Hooke will comment on the Tasmanian wine industry alongside beverage tasting sessions and an eclectic range of Taste Food Tours.
For hungry revellers there will be over 70 food stalls to satiate ravenous appetites with a choice of seafood, cheeses, berries, cool-climate wines, boutique beers, ciders and much more from regions right around the state all set inside the Princes Wharf No.1 shed, and environs.
And when it comes to a spot of relaxing there'll be more than100 buskers, local musicians and DJs performing throughout the event.
