Produce Playoff 2016 Comes to Betony, New York

The Produce Playoff 2016 dinner, presented by S.Pellegrino in aid of the 'No Kid Hungry' campaign, comes to Betony in Manhattan on 24 August.

One in five children in the US still struggles with hunger, which is a frightening statistic in 2016. This August, some of New York’s finest chefs and sommeliers will be coming together to raise money for Share Our Strength’s 'No Kid Hungry' campaign, which aims to end childhood hunger in the US.

Produce Playoff 2016, presented by S.Pellegrino, a cocktail party and seven–course dinner dedicated to the best of New York’s rich summer produce, alongside meat and poultry, will be held on 24 August at restaurant Betony in Manhattan.

Dream Team

Betony’s Bryce Shuman and Eamon Rockey will host the event, now in its third year, in collaboration with a dream team drawn from the beating heart of New York’s dining scene, including Enrique Olvera (Cosme), Daniel Burns (Luksus) and Caleb Ganzer (Compagnie des Vins Surnaturels).

The team will select their favourite regional growers, or “star players”, whose produce will feature on the night, and after dinner the guests will have a chance to meet the culinary team and the farmers.

Amazing Produce

The organisers say there is “no better time to be a chef – or a diner” than August, when “long sunny days, drawn-out dusks and dewy mornings give rise to the sweetest produce of the year.” We’re licking our lips just thinking about the bounty of amazing produce waiting to be cooked and served–up.
