Milan Design Week's Happenings
Milan's Design Week continues on with many interesting events related to food, read to post to find out what shouldn't be missed.
Sometimes the most interesting ideas in food come from the less expected places. At least this is the case of several events that we witnessed yesterday during the second day of Milan’s Design Week.
At the design junction, a group exhibition showcasing some of England’s most interesting design in Via Palermo’s “Pelota” show space, we saw some brilliant food ideas coming from three Italians; Studio Lievito’s Laura Passalacqua, Francesco Taviani and Jacopo Volpi presented there a series of objects for the kitchen which, utility apart, dialogued with the poetics of food design in a very personal way.
At the elegant rooms of Erastudio Apartment gallery in via Palermo, it is the work of De Cotiis and Xawery Wolski that suggest a remote and quite dreamy domestic landscape through the sophisticated design, stroll through it while taking in S.Pellegrino and Acqua Panna water as available refreshments.
A bit further, in via Santo Spirito, we saw Matteo Cibic’s “gelato alla Milanese” concept: an ice cream recipe inspired by one of the most characteristic Milanese dishes and prepared with saffron. The event was hosted in the boutique of fashion designer Mauro Grifoni for one afternoon only.
Hundreds of openings and parties are taking place all across the city every night, but for the ones who are interested into combining their design days with some relax and inspiring food, we suggest booking at the speakeasy of Pisacco restaurant, which will be open for just 5 days during the Salone del Mobile. During the day the Food design Factory at the Brera design district, is also a good idea for a “relax” stop.
