An 'Off the Menu' Food Celebration in Barcelona
A 'disco kitchen', cooking workshops and open air markets: the first edition of the food festival has just been hosted in Spain
An Off the Menu Food Celebration was held in Barcelona during the latest edition of Alimentaria. Artists and food professionals gathered together under the name Off Menu to launch an inedited food festival.
The all-Spanish panel of organizers promised visitors a fanciful celebration of food and its rituals for five consecutive days. Open to anyone who was interested in participating, Off Menu’s food collective invited guests to an off the menu degustation, where fun was as important as taste.
Playing with words, culinary tradition and with local eating trends, Off Menu proposed a series of inventive events. This first edition of the program included an after-hours dinner called Disco Kitchen, a children’s cooking workshop, an open-air food market with products from small producers, and a drink and dance party inspired by the folklore Ball del Vermut feast, among other things.
