Eric Roux: The Curator of the 2016 Edition
This year's celebrations will be sponsored by Eric Roux, founder of the l'Observatoire des Cuisines Populaires(OCPOP) and former sidekick Jean-Pierre Coffe. The Auvergne wants "to party with tradition, never frozen, [...] party in the transmission of knowledge and knowledge on how to produce and how to process the products at the base of our food, [and] also to celebrate our family meals or amongst friends from UNESCO."
Popular cuisines "are characterized by their ability to adapt to the constraints imposed by the place, product availability and local practices" needless to say, organic produce will also feature!
Chefs and food artisans will invite the public to roll up their sleeves and get stuck in and to discover local products in a series of banquets, picnics and workshops. Local and national museums will also be there featuring the heritage of tableware.
Last year, the Festival of gastronomy attracted nearly 2 million visitors in around 11,000 events.
