If you are planning a nice summer vacation we suggest a trip down to Georgia for the 9th annual Attack of the Killer Tomatoes Festival. Named after the cult film from the late 1970s, the festival will be held July 17th in Atlanta's Park Tavern.
As the name suggests, this event is a homage to tomatoes that are prepared in dozens of ways by local chefs. You'll find bruschetta, biryani, gazpacho, Bloody Mary, pizza, salads, you name it...all tasty bites to celebrate the bounty of the season.
Attack of the Killer Tomatoes Festival is also a fundraiser for Georgia Organics, a non-profit organization that promotes sustainable foods and local farms. Organizers hope to raise $100,000 for charity this year.
