Berlinale Culinary Film Festival 2016: The Line Up

International food themed films, dinners cooked by top chefs and foodie discussion forums look set to make the 10th Culinary Film Festival one to remember,

“Make Food Not War” is the motto of the 10th Culinary Cinema which will be held at this year's Berlinale (Berlin Film Festival), from February 14 to 19, 2016.

The line up of international films will focus on celebrating food, pleasure and the environment. Cinema buffs will have the opportunity to enjoy around a dozen food themed films, with at least three scheduled to make their world premiere.

"War is not an appropriate means for solving problems such as racism, poverty or climate change. The cuisines of the world are better suited to this task. Food connects people and hospitality contributes to international understanding,” says Festival Director Dieter Kosslick endorsing the essence of the event as food as pleasure.

A menu inspired by the night's film will follow each evening screening prepared by one of the festival's top guest chefs. Discussion time kicks in during dessert where members of the film team and experts will open topics to the floor.

The top chefs for this year include the acclaimed Spanish chef Andoni Luis Aduriz whose restaurant Mugaritz has a spot in the top 10 in The World's 50 Best Restaurants. Sven Elverfeld, Michael Kempf, Sonja Frühsammer as well as Alexander Dressel with the “Jeunes Restaurateurs” who will all work the pass in the Gropius Mirror Restaurant.
