Perhaps not many people ever wonder how that delicious filet of fish got on their plate. Even if you can picture the fishermen at sea you really never know what their life is really like. That will all change when you watch this moving short film about an Icelandic fisherman.

His name is Páll Pálsson. For the past 36 years, he has been a man of the sea. In his life there is lots of fishing but little sleep. He suffers from chronic fatigue, insomnia and sleep apnea yet he loves his job. It was handed down by generations and he can’t imagine doing anything else, regardless of his restless nights.

This short film is titled The Longest Night and was produced by The New York Times' T Brand Studio and features stunning views of Iceland’s countryside. You can’t help but be moved by it. Take a look:
