A Selection of Incredible Edible Art That Generated Funds

ArtFundthe national UK art fundraising charity, challenged the general public to a competition make the ultimate edible masterpiece representing their favourite works of art or cultural icons in a bid to raise funds for UK museums and galleries, with impressive results.

A strong turnout of edible masterpieces included everything from Anthony Gormley's iconic figures made out of gingerbread to The Ultimate Edible Masterpiece 2015 champion,  Michelangelo's Sistine Chapel made out of segments of satsumas overlapping on two dishes.

The incredible edible work was subject to serious scrutiny be a panel of expert judges including Great British Bake Off winner, Frances Quinn; chef, restaurateur and journalist, Rowley Leigh; and The Guardian's art critic, Jonathan Jones

Judges praised the winning masterpiece's 'inspiring use of ingredients'. Leigh said, 'What distinguished this entry was imagination – it stood out straight away', while Quinn described it as 'really thinking outside the fruit bowl'. Ten runners up were also selected in the competition.
