Jonas Edvard Nielsen is the man behind these wonderful mushroom designs of lampshades.
Producing a material called Mushroom Mycelium, Nielsen’s series of mushroom designs involves using left over fungi from mushroom farms and plant filaments from Textile factories and growing a material which he later bends and moulds into shape.
Each lampshade takes around three weeks to grow, taking on a life of its own depending on how fast, thick and the colour of the finished material.
The finished structure can eventually be dried out and used as working, once living, lampshades.
