As the end of the week swings around we reflect on the week's events in the best way we know how, with some good old fashioned gratuitous Instagram food porn.

There's been plenty of food for thought over the past seven days, both political and sporting, so whether you're commiserating or celebrating, or just into re-inventing the donut, what better way to distract your thoughts than drooling over some of Instagram's finest food shots.

From Nikkei cuisine, Brexit comfort food and heaps of bacon ... just because, to beach side treats and looking forward to the start of Wimbledon fortnight, here's our round up of the week.

We're all about Nikkei Cusine these days, the culinary fusion of Japanese technique and exciting Peruvian ingredients. This dish is tiradito, salmon sashimi set on a mango miso sauce.

Healthy sushi donuts caused an internet sensation this week. Our favourite looks something like this, no sugar coating here.

Looking to console yourself with Brexit comfort food? Try tucking into a oozing Scotch egg from London's Borough Market. A British summertime picnic favourite.

Our hearts melted over this exquisitely crafted miniature foods all crafted out of clay. Now that's what we call super miniaturising.

These ice bowl noodle dishes got us talking that come served in a Japanese restaurant in Kyoto. Aside from looking totally cool, they give the noodles a whole new dimension.

We took a look at some of the mouth-watering traditional local products from the southern Italian region of Puglia. They don't get much better than fresh burrata by the sea.

The winning dish of the victorious young chef in the UK and Ireland region, George Kataras, that wowed the judges; Ollie Dabbous, Claude Bosi, Ross Lewis and Jp McMahon was a whole turbot.

The creme de la creme of food festivals came to a close in Aspen. As the top food festival finishes for another year we comiserate with a big plate of ... bacon.

Ice cream roses made us melt with desire and wish it was summer every day. This Parisian version comes with macarons on top.

With Wimbledon about to kick off next week, we leave you with a gratuitious photo of strawberries to get you ready for what is as much a serious strawberry eating competition as tennis competition.
