Gummy bears are more than just sweet treats. Artists around the world have used them as inspiration to create amazing things like a pythons and chandeliers. Some have even gone as far as making a dress made of 50,000 gummy bears.

Now, German artist Johannes Cordes has recreated famous paintings using thousands of gummy bears. He's taken on the legendary Mona Lisa and portraits of Marilyn Monroe, John F. Kennedy and Betty Davis (all shown below).

This unique art requires at least 3 tons of gummy bears a year, that's about 200 packs a week. Since gummy bears come in only six colors, Cordes paints them to resemble the true colors of each painting. Each work of art can take anywhere from 100 to 240 hours to make. Incredible, no?
