Step Inside the Miniature Edible World of Tatsuya Tanaka

Tatsuya Tanaka isn't the first artist we've seen experimenting with miniature dioramas using everday objects and ingredients - but there's no denying his work is right up there when it comes to originality and creativity.

While you probably remember the quirky cake series of baker Matteo Stucchi or the entertaining scenes from famous TV series and films by Nicolas Knepper, the work of Tatsuya Tanaka dares to push that irony one step further. Given that the Japanese artist has been creating the bijoux food scenes every day since 2011, although he only started actually publishing a few months ago. his works are impressive and extensive.

All objects used in Tanaka scenes are of the everyday, as is the food: broccoli becomes a lush forest where dancers twirl, popcorn are pieces of crumpled paper, and pistachios are strange egg like objects examined by astronauts arriving from another planet.
