Things You Can Do With A Colander: Scary Faces On The Sidewalk

Spanish-born, Brussels-based artist Isaac Cordal has made a urban project called Cement Bleak, a street art intervention he first initiated a few years past in Dalston (London). The public art installation employs the illumination from street lamps casting their shadows upon manipulated metal cooking strainers, propped up by the handle of the piece: the central idea is to make larger projections drawing on the resources of city lights at night.

Three small faces have been modeled on the grid of several colanders and as the light passes through the netted cookware piece, the end point of this luminosity a three-dimensional seeming face on the sidewalk.
