Joel Penkman is a New Zealand-bred artist with a knack for capturing food in playful and whimiscal ways. Her paintings of fictional food from films are creative and extremely realistic.

Now based in the United Kingdom, Penkman uses a method called egg tempera to capture food from films like Breakfast at Tiffany, Casino Royale and even the razor-thin garlic from Goodfellas (pictured above).

Here's what she had to say about the paintings: ''Food triggers memories and emotion, I like that people can bring something of themselves to the artworks. My favorite medium is egg tempera. It is very time consuming as I make the gesso to prepare my boards and grind my own paint mix, but the results are worth it.''
