The Walkway Made of Coffee Mugs

Mexico City is hosting an amazing installation made of coffee mugs. The canopy, which rises above a wide sidewalk and is made of 1,497 mugs, has been deemed the Portal of Awareness.

The project was designed by Michel Rojkind of Rojkind Arquitectos and was commissioned by Nescafé to celebrate the company's 60th anniversary. Rojkind worked with a team of seven artists to build the structure, which is installed on Paseo de la Reforma.

The coffee portal is part of a campagin called Despierta a la Vida, which translates to Awaken to Life. The challenge was for the artists to create a structure using a maximum of 1,500 coffee mugs.

As you'll see below, it the installation is pretty cool. If you happen to be in Mexico City, do check it out. The installation will be exhibited until December 3rd.
