Michelin-starred chef Yoshihiro Narisawa, who is known for putting a French spin on classical Japanese dishes at his award-winning Tokyo restaurant, has opened his first food truck.
Known as kitchen car in Japanese, the food truck is located next to the Diner’s Club Ice Rink in Roppongi and will be dishing grilled seafood, soups and sandwiches until March 8. The menu will continue to change, encouraging visitors to pay the Narisawa kitchen car another visit.
Menu items hail from different regions of Japan and have included Hiroshima oysters, Kyoto’s Shiro Miso Ozoni (featuring grilled rice cakes with a sweet and white miso) and Hakata Motsu Nikomi (a spicy miso soup made from wagyu offal). Sandwiches are served on bread made with 18-grain flour and are filled with pork, chicken, or vegetables, Food Sake Tokyo reports.
Chef Narisawa is working with a wide array of farmers and purveyors from all over the country to offer diners the finest street food. His restaurant Narisawa currently ranks second on Asia's 50 Best Restaurants list and 14th on the World's 50 Best Restaurants list.
