A giant avocado found by Pamela Wang in Hawaii has now been confirmed as the heaviest avocado in the world by Guinness World Records America.
Weighing in at a whopping 2.37 kg (5 lb 3.6 oz) the tropical green fruit outstrips the previous record holder from Caracas, Venezuela who held the title since 2009 with a fruit weighing in at an inferior 1.8kg (4 lb 13.2 oz.)
Stumbling across the foot long avocado on a walk in South Kona on 26 November, Pamela Wang told West Hawaii Today, “I see avocados every day and I pick up avocados every day, but this one … it was hard to miss,” she said. “It was as big as my head.” The confirmation that it was also record-breaker came to her as a very welcome late Christmas present.
Wang said the avocado was delicious and despite sharing it with 10 friends they were unable to finish half of one half according to Newsweek.
