If there's someone who knows the Windy City it's Grant Achatz. When he's not busy preparing cutting-edge food at his restaurants Alinea, Next and the Aviary, the acclaimed chef is enjoying the best food and drinks Chicago has to offer. So what are his top picks?

In an interview with Epicurious, Achatz revealed more than a dozen of his favorite places to dine, drink, grab a cup of joe or buy knives.

His top spot is Katsu, a ''relatively unknown restaurant'' that has "some of the best sushi" the chef has ever had in Japan, New York or elsewhere. For comfort food, Achatz turns to GT Fis & Oyster which he describes as ''lively, loud and approachable.''

The Michelin-starred chef also gave recommendations for the best Vietnamese food in town and where to get a Chicago-style deep-dish pizza that ''is baked in a cast-iron pan so it's impossible to pick up." Hungry for more? Swing by Epicurious to get the full scoop on Achatz' top picks.
