The final countdown is on to The World Restaurant Awards, with just days until the curtain goes up on the Oscars style ceremony on 18 February 2019 in Paris.
Fine Dining Lovers is Media Partner for this exciting debut edition and will bring you live coverage during the glittering ceremony when the 18 category winners will be announced, including the prestigious "Restaurant of the Year" award.
Our team will be on the ground in French capital, not only mingling with the stars to bring you exclusive interviews from the red carpet but also sharing behind the scenes footage and much more on our Instagram page, allowing you to experience the thrill of the competition, from the inside.
This is the first ever edition of this brand new glamorous restaurant awards ceremony, designed by ‘IMG with Joe Warwick and Andrea Petrini.
Over 100 industry experts, including chefs like Elena Arzak, Alex Atala, Massimo Bottura, David Chang, Dominique Crenn, Hélène Darroze, Daniel Humm, René Redzepi, Ana Roš and Clare Smyth, and an assorted international food press and restaurant experts have already shortlisted the nominees for 17 categories (see the nominees shortlist here).
The awards are divided into two categories - Big Plates and Small Plates. The twelve big plate award categories are designed to promote excellence and integrity as well as the diversity of the world's restaurant community, whereas the six Small Plate categories are more "tongue in cheek" and recognize the pivotal role of social media and tattoos in the culinary world!
Who will make the best acceptance speech? Who will leave pick up "best arrival of the year" or the most "enduring classic"? Who will be named tattoo free chef or tweezer free kitchen? Join us as the red carpet is rolled out on the new Oscars of the food world!
