A university in Ohio has installed the first pizza ATM in the US.
Xavier University in Cincinnati has partnered with French firm Paline on the pizza ATM, which will be satisfying students’ late night cheesy snack cravings as of next semester.
The machine holds up to 70 pizzas at a time. Users order through a touch screen and the pizza – created in Xavier’s kitchens – drops from refrigeration to a small convection oven. Three minutes later it’s done, dropped into a box and delivered to the user through a slot on the front of the machine. A 12” pizza costs $9.
One, potentially biased Xavier staff member described the pizzas as "the best ... I've ever had." Machines such as these have been available for years in Europe and you may remember the pizza vending machine we reported on back in 2012 (watch this video, complete with hilarious dubbing). Local pizza delivery firms are cheesed off, no doubt.
